David Spiegelhalter 2016. The Art of Statistics. Learning from Data. London: Pelican, 448 pp.

Wonderfully clear introduction to statistics: probability, sampling distributions, uncertainty. Introductory but not intuitive (probability theory isn’t, always). The author generously spends a few chapters on lucid explanations of frequentist methods before admitting to being a Bayesian. I’ll be needing my own copy for regular remedial reading.
